LABOUR PARTY IN N.S.W.
SPLIT CONSIDERED LIKELY (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, June 12. The Federal conference of the Australian Labour Party found last night that a "grave situation” exists in the affairs of the party’s New South Wales branch executive. The conference referred the matter to the Federal executive to take whatever action it deems necessary. Some political observers interpret the decision as foreshadowing the dismissal of the entire New South Wales executive and the appointment of a new State executive. The Federal conference has been examining charges of maladministration and improper practices laid against the State executive by antiindustrial group factions in the party. Observers say that the dismissal of the State executive could lead to a split in New South Wales similar to that which occurred in Victoria, leading to the formation of the AntiCommunist Labour Party.
