CROQUET
N.Z. TEAM FOR FIRST TEST (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, June 12. The New Zealand croquet team has a good chance of winning the first test against England at Brighton from tomorrow until Friday. England will not be at full strength because Ho Hicks, the English champion, who beat A. G. F. Ross in the final at Hurlingham. is unable to playbefore the third and fourth tests. England will be captained by E. P. C. Cotter, who. with J. Solomon, also in the team, and Hicks, are regarded as the three best croquet players in the world. The England team will be all men. the others being Dr. Wiggins. Major Stone. M. Rickett. and L. Kirk-Green. NewZealand will be represented by Ross (captain). Miss I. Wainwright. Mr and Mrs C. Watkins, G. Rowling, and Mrs McKenzieSmart. The New Zealanders are in good heart, since all have had some successes since arriving in England. One of the main differences they have found compared with New Zealand is that play continues in rain which in the Dominion would cause the game to be temporarily abandoned.
