TRACK WORK AT WINGATUI

BLUE COUNT FIT FOR OAMARU TEST IMPRESSIVE TRIAL BY PRINCESS NEPTUNE “The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN. June 12. Blue Count appeared to be well forward for his test in the Oamaru Winter Cup when he worked in an impressive manner at Wingatui this morning. The Count Rendered gelding was giving Lawrence several lengths start at the home turn, but he quickly gathered in his companion in the run home to complete six furlongs in lmin 23 3-ssec. the first three furlongs in 41sec. Blue Count missed his recent Wingatui engagements on account of the g °This time was equalled by Waaco Bill (W. Haniin) and Danger Point (F. Harris), which finished on terms, after running the first three furlongs in 41 3-ssec. Baleveine (W. Haniin) was given an easv run over the same ground in lmin 28sec, the first three furlongs in 43sec. Princess Neptune (B. P. Kennedy) recorded the best trial of the morning when she dashed over six furlongs on the plough in lmin 18 4-ssec, the first three furlongs in the smart time of 38sec. The Neptune mare, which is engaged in the Oamaru Winter Cup. is a brilliant track worker, but her recent race form has been disappointing. Wayren (F. Harris) shaded Aberdeen (W. Haniin) in lmin 25sec. They were doing their best work over the opening stages, to run the first three furlongs in 39sec. Aberdeen, which has not raced for over two years, is due to resume in the Grange Handicap, the second leg of the Oamaru double, on Saturday. The Coron- - ach nine-year-old has done little track work, but has got through a good deal of hacking. Super Lin (W. Haniin) and a filly by the Coronach horse. Dean, dashed over half a mile in 53sec, the opening furlong in 12 4-sec. Our Murph (E. Lowry) and Treasure Pond (B. P. Kennedy), candidates for the Trial Stakes, completed their task over half a mile by coming home the last three furlongs in 42 2-ssec. 1 On the inside grass. Sir Zin (R. J. Bain) and Regal Robe (B. P. Kennedy) were together over five furlongs in lmin 6sec. the first two furlongs in the smart time of 24sec. Schooling A bright display over four flights of hurdles by Pips was a feature of the schoolings. The Newtown Pippin gelding is due to make his jumping debut in the Hack Hurdle Handicap at Oamaru on Saturday. Ridden by S J Harrington, Pips, which has shown more than average ability for a novice jumper, gave a fast exhibition over the two hurdles down the back twice, accomplishing his task in a workmanlike manner. Flying Doctor <S. J. Harrington>. a candidate for the Bumside Steeples, had no trouble in clearing the brush double, and the Oamaru fences should not bother this Airway gelding in his first attempt over country. Sir Gerald (S J. Harrington) showed ability over a round of five hurdles, but the Royal Chief gelding will probably race in the Waikaura Champion Hack in , preference to the Hack Hurdles. This would allow the Southland horse. Haughty Boy, to re-enter the field. The Sponsor (R. J. Bain), a brother to Exchequer, is the latest recruit to hurdling. He safely cleared two hurdles in his first jumping experience. Royal Mail (B. J Anderton) was more impressive than Lyndel’s Choice (E. Sutherland) over four hurdles.

A half-brother by Columcille to Lyndel’s Choice shows considerable promise in his early education as a jumper.
