Consumption in the Municipal Electricity Department’s district last week was about 10 per cent, under allocation. An officer of the department said yesterday that this result appeared to be good, but consumption was lower thai\ it would have normally been because of the public holiday last Monday. It was likely, he said, that consumption next week would not be so much below allocation.

On Sunday consumption in the area was 95 per cent, of allocation, and on Saturday it was 93 per cent, of the quota.

Riccarton borough was 13.7 per cent, under allocation last week. Consumers in the borough are now receiving enough power to provide one cylinder full of hot water a day. but any additional surplus units are also being directed to water heating. Details of last week’s consumption m the lleathcote County were not available yesterday. Electric radiators may now be used jn Rangiora between 7 p.m. and 10 a - m - This was agreed to at a meeting of the emergency electricity committee of the Rangiora Borough Council yesterday.
