GARDEN-LOVERS’ TOUR
PARTY OF 25 FROM U.S, NEXT YEAR
Mr Norvell Gillespie, who brought a party of seven garden-lovers from the United States to New Zealand earlier this year, will return in February with a party of 25 or 30. Because of the first party’s interest in Christchurch—and the hospitality they received here —next year’s tour has been rearranged. Three or four days will be spent in the city, compared with two on the last visit. According to a spokesman for the Tourist and Publicity Department, the tour will start at Auckland and end at Christchurch—“leaving the best until the last.” There are already 20 firm bookings for the tour, regardless of the date.
The Canterbury Horticultural Society hopes that the Americans will be here between February 20 and 22, when the society’s show will be held under canvas near Victoria Lake in Hagley Park.
