COMIC BATTLE AT MAJESTIC THEATRE

There will be a battle of comedy at the Majestic Theatre, Christchurch, on June 18 when the city will see for the first time famous vaudeville comedians George Wallace, Jim Gerald and Morrie Barling on the one programme. They star in the record-breaking vaudeville show success, "THANKS FOR THE MEMORY,” which features memorable song numbers from the Hit Parade of 1900-55. The production has no less than five big stars and a cast of over 50 principals, each a star in their own right. They are supported by the famous Sydney Sunkist Ballet and the Pin-Up Mannequin models. The show is a lavishly mounted and dressed revue, and features highlights from vaudeville, revue, musical comedy and comic opera. ‘ “THANKS ' FOR THE MEMORY” weaves a pattern of laughter, song dance, novelty, spectacle and colour, and it is one vaudeville revue production that has been devised for family entertainment, and has already proved its appeal tor all those from nine to 90. FAMOUS FULLERS As it is based on the earlier days of the famous Fuller’s Circuit, with their policy of family vaudeville, it is obvious that the show is designed to please everyone. What wonderful names there will be when we hear Queenie Paul, singing ‘‘Bye. Bye Blackbird,” and “Shine On Harvest Moon”; see George Wallace as “Sophie the Sort on the Bus”; Jim Gerald with his clever mime and brilliant facial expressions; the droll humor of that dry comedian, Morrie Barling. And the wonderful male impersonations by Nellie Kolle; the nightingale voice of Millie Hansen, and that famous vaudevillian, Lulla Fanning. “THANKS FOR THE MEMORY” will be one vaudeville show that Christchurch audiences will really say: “Thanks for the Memory.” We are fortunate in being able to see such a brilliant all-star cast on the one bill. Nothing has ever been seen like it before. The only unfortunate note is that the Christchurch season is limited to two weeks. Special Note: Party bookings are available at the D.1.C., where the ordinary plan opens next Monday at 9 ajn.—PJ3.A.
