ACCIDENTS
BUSHMAN CRUSHED BY LOG (From Out Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, June 7. A bushman. Percy James Woods, aged 48, married, of Moana, was admitted to the Grey Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from a fractured pelvis. Mr Woods was involved in an accident in the bush where he was assisting in loading logs on to a truck. One of the logs swung round and crushed him against a bank. His condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. SHOVEL DRIVER LOSES ARM (New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, June 7. A man lost his right arm below the elbow in an accident with a mechanical shove] at the Golden Bay Cement Company’s Tarakohe works yesterday. He is Mr Lesley Leonald Holmwood, aged 47. married, of Kotinga, Takaka. Mr Holmwood, a shovel driver, was demonstrating to another driver where defects occurred in the machine when his right arm was caught in the hoisting gear.
