Terrorist gunmen shot and killed a Cypriot Greek Government official on the steps of the District Commissioner’s office in the heart of Limassol’s business sector this morning. Lawyers, bankers, and other businessmen were among those who ran to the scene as Inspector Sergides, seriously wounded in the chest, rolled down the three steps of his office. British troops sealed oil the area soon afterwards and began a search for the killer with the aid of police dogs.
