62-Mile Glider Flight Over Sea
<Rec 16 p.m.) LONDON. June 6. Aage Thomsen, a 36-year-old Danish manufacturer, has made a hazardous 62-mile flight over the open sea from Denmark to Sweden in a ■ single-, seater glider. The Royal Danish Aero Club said international gliding experts had considered such a flight imposS *Thomsen covered a total distance of 135 miles and the flight lasted four and a half hours. With ice on the wings and no lifejacket. Thomsen was over the open sea for more than two hours. After risine to 5000 ft he reached the Swedish coast at an -altitude' of only 500 ft and was forced In land in a field 15 miles south of Gothenburg.
