WAIKARI BRANCH The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Waikan branch of the' Plunket Society: patronesses, Mesdames A. J. Blakely and B. L. Blundin; president, Mrs. B A. Coe; vicd-bresidents, Mesdames J. W. Mosley,, x). B. Stevenson and G. Evans; -secretary, Mrs A. M. Stewart; secretary, Waikari sub-committee. Mrs Peter Carr; treasurer, Mrs Peter Woods; assistant-treasurer, Mrs Musson; executive committee. Mesdames K. D. Anderson, A. J. Blakely, B. L. Blunden and president of each sub-branch; advisory board, Drs Meiklehan and Kennedy, Messrs Inch, Coe, Gale, Blakely and McMillan; honorary auditor. Reverend K. L. Warren; Waikari sub-committee, Mesdames T. D. Allan, Gale, Blakely. Denton,, Anderson, P. and E. Carr. Mussom N. Atkinson, Twosy, Bruiri, Emerson and Shafcott. During the year, 240 babies were under supervision, said the nurse’s report. Visits to homes of babies had increased by 101, and the visits by babies to the rooms by 72. The number of pre-school children under supervision was 279. All sub-branches were visited by the school medical officer, who examined 129 children. The branch’s car travelled 9489 niiles. Each sub-branch agreed to contribute £lO a year to a fund for the purchase of a new car.
MURCHISON PLUNKET SOCIETY The Dr. Helen Deem Memorial Fund benefited considerably from, the takings at a social evening and dance organised by the Murchison branch of the Plunket Society on Friday. A sales table in the supper room was well patronised. Mr J. B. Milligan was in charge of the music for dancing, and Miss June Anderson and Mr D. Robertson played extras. Solos were contributed by Mesdames V. Collins, V. Borcovsky, and L. Robertson. Members of the Plunket committee have expressed their gratitude to Murchison residents for their generous support at the function.
