MAGICIANS TO VISIT CHRISTCHURCH
PUBLIC PERFORMANCE ON SUNDAY
Goodliffe and Tom Harris, two well-known English magicians, will arrive for a three-day visit to Christchurch next Friday. At present attending the fifth Australian convention of magicians at Melbourne, the two men were to have gone on to Canada and the United States immediately after, but arrangements made by the New Zealand Magic Circle have enabled them to visit the city. Goodliffe ,is the leader of the “Flying Sorcerers,” an international group of noted magicians who fly to all parts of the world to baffle audiences with their sleight-of-hand. Next Saturday night they will lecture behind closed doors to a group of Christchurch magicians, who hope to “brush up” their technique and learn some fine points of the art. It is hoped that 40 will attend, including members from Whangarei and Bluff. A public concert will feature the two men on Sunday night, when 10 local magicians will appear in conjunction with them, as well as a small group of other artists—singers, jugglers, and ventriloquists.
