TRANSPORT RATE CONFIRMED
The Christchurch Transport Board yesterday formaly approved its rates for the coming year. As announced after the meeting of the board on May 21, the rates this year will be on the basis of 18s lid per £lOOO of capital value, compared with £ 1 Is 2d last year.
To produce £9097 to cover the estimated operating deficiency, the board levied a general rate of .0143034 d in the £. Special rates amounting to .2125778 d in the £ were confirmed and are to cover an estimated £134,932 in interest and loan charges.
