POPULARITY OF EDEN
FINDINGS OF GALLUP POLL
(Rec. 11 p.m. LONDON, June 5. Sir Anthony Eden has greatly increased his personal popularity in Britain since the ’ visit of Marshal Bulganin and Mr Khrushchev, but support for his Government has not increased nearly as much, according to the latest “News Chronicle” Gallup poll.
Between May 19 and May 27, voters who were asked were they satisfied or dissatisfied with Sir Anthony Eden as Prime Minister answered: Satisfied, 54 per cent; dissatisfied, 37 per cent.; don’t know, 9 per cent. The figures for April and March were: Satisfied, 41, 45; dissatisfied, 40, 37; don’t know, 19, 18.
Answering the question whether they approved or disapproved of the Government’s record to date, voters replied: Approve, 40 per cent.; disapprove, 45 per cent.; don’t know, 15 per cent. The figures of polls taken m March and December were: Approve, 34, 44; disapprove, 43, 40; don’t know, 23, 16.
