HEAVY RAIN IN AUCKLAND
SLIPS DISRUPT TRAIN SERVICES
EXPRESSES HELD UP NEAR ROTORUA (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 4. Auckland had heavy rain last night and again this morning, but apart from minor flooding, no serious damage was reported in the city. However, in the Auckland railways district. floods and slips disrupted train services.
The largest slip was reported 20 miles north of Rotorua: it closed the line until the afternoon, and held up both the north and south-bound expresses. Buses were used to bring 208 Rugby fans from Rotorua to Hamilton for the Auckland-Waikato game and to bring Auckland passengers on to Rotorua from Hamilton.
