Sir Samuel Hordern Dead
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 4. A former director of the Commonwealth Bank Board, and a Sydnev businessman, Sir Samuel Hordern, died in Sydney yesterday, aged 79. He was a member of the prominent business family which controlled the Sydney department store of Anthony Hordern and Sons.
A horse racing owner, his horses had won the Australian Jockey Club’s Derby and the Melbourne Cup. Sir Samuel Hordern was also a former president of the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales.
