Death Of Film Star

The film star, Jean Hersholt, died today at his home in Hollywood after a long illness. Born in Copenhagen, Hersholt came to the United States in 1913. He played in many films, the most famous being “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Meet Dr. Christian,” “Stage Door Canteen” and “Heidi.” He was very active in Hollywood’s civic affairs, and was president of the Motion Picture Relief Fund from 1938.
