Smith, had an anxious moment when he slipped while going back in defence during the final South Island Rugby Trial at Lancaster Park this wek. A moment after this picture was taken Smith was tackled in possession and carried over the line, where, after several seconds’ deliberation, he was able to force down. W. R. Archer (Otago) is at the left, while W. C. Wilson (Otago) watches anxiously. Behind Wilson is T. H. Pickard (Otago).
