49 ASPIRANTS FOR THE “MRS AMERICA” TITLE
JBec. 8 p.m.) °AYTONA BEACH (Florida), May 6. Forty-nine housewives ranging in age from 21 to 42, arrived today with their “weapons” to compete in the Mrs America” contest. The “weapons” were needles and bread, cooking utensils and the other of the average American houseThe housewives, who have an average of three children, will undergo “ l£ ries of tests starting on Monday *he finals and the coronation will
be held on Saturday night. During the week the contenders will be judged on cooking, sewing, fashions, civil defence knowledge, safe driving knowledge, child raising and “a million and one things in which a housewife must excel.” In addition to the “Mrs America” title. 15 other titles, such as “Mrs Baking.” “Mrs Sewing,” etc., await the housewives. Their husbands, who are guests, include a minister, a probation officer, a lawyer, a rice dryer, a football coach and a tombstone carver.
