RAWHITHI DOMAIN PAVILION
COMMITTEE’S PLANS FOR GYMNASIUM With the rapid growth of New Brighton in recent years there has been a corresponding increase in the demands made on the Rawhiti Domain by a large number of sporting bodies. The Rawhiti Memorial Sports Committee was recently formed by delegates from those bodies, and its aim is to provide the domain with a suitable pavilion. If enough money is raised it is expected that the pavilion will comprise a large gymnasium, dressing sheds, showers and conveniences. Provision has been made on the plans for extending the building when necessary, but at first the main hall, the gymnasium. will be about 30ft by 25ft. On Saturday, May 19, the committee will hold a street appeal in New Brighton, and the New Brighton band will lead a parade along Seaview road at 1.45 p.m. The staff of 3ZB has challenged “the rest’’ to a burlesque football match in the afternoon before a senior Rugby football match at Jellicoe Park, South Brighton.
