French Fighters For Israel
(Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Mar. 6. Five Republican members of the House of Representatives said in a statement tonight that they had been advised that France had agreed to sell 12 fast new jet fighters to Israel. Their statement applauded “this action to redress the inbalance oi arms in the Middle East.”
Mr Kenneth Keating (Republican, New York), who issued the joint statement for the five Congressmen, said he was “not at liberty” to say where they received the intelligence. But he said that their source was American and that it was “thoroughly reliable and unimpeachable.” The five form a special committee representing 50 House of Representatives Republicans who have urged the State Department to sell United States military equipment to Israel.
