LADY COOK WINS MAIN RACE (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL. March 4. Racing of excellent standard was seen on the final day of the Invercargill Trotting Club’s autumn meeting on Saturday. The weather was overcast but fine, and the track was fast. After the Invercargill Handicap, an inquiry was held into alleged interference by Lady Cook (K. M. Balloch) to Argyle Lad (J. A. Flynn) at the straight entrance. It was decided to take no action. However, Balloch was warned not to straighten his horse up too quickly in future.

W. R. Scott, driver of Eskimo in the Autumn Handicap, was fined £5 for careless driving. Eskimo collided with Amazon with a mile to go. and Amazon was pulled up with two broken stays. The winning doubles combination, Lady Cook and Victory Nelson, returned £ll4 17s 6d for £l. The totalisator handled £36,418 —an increase of £2113 10s compared with last year.
