DEFINITION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Sir,—I believe “Observer” is confused between the law of Moses and the law of God. Gal. 5:14 “For all the law (law of God) is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” This law covers all, yet keeping of the sabbath is not mentioned. Jesus preached the fundamentals of the gospel on the mount in Matt. 5, which would lead us into the paths of righteousness. Christ said, He had not come to destroy the law but to fulfil it. It reads in His presence. Rom. 7:4 “By the body of Christ we become dead to the law to marry another.” So from works, which is of Moses, to faith, which is of Christ. Jesus could not convince the Scribes and Pharisees; neither can we convince men of the truth. Nevertheless the truth will stand against the false.— Yours, etc., E. E. ELLIS. January 24, 1956.
