OTAGO BEATEN BY EIGHT WICKETS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 23. Wellington had a comfortable eight wickets' victory over Otago in the Plunket Shield cricket match at the Basin Reserve today. Needing only 30 runs with nine wickets in hand, Wellington lost one more wicket in getting the runs. E. W. Dempster, who has had his poorest shield season with the bat. finished the game with a 6. L. S. M. Miller was not out with 21. which gave L-m an aggregate in shield games of 429 runs, at an average of 61.2. Otago's display was disappointing, but full credit must go to F. J. Cameron, the medium to fast Otago bowler. He took five wickets for 56 runs in Wellington s first innings, and two for 17 in the second. Cameron maintained an excellent length throughout and moved the ball disconcertingly at times.
