Illegitimate Children In Britain

The number of illegitimate births in Britain was alarming, said Dr. Leslie Housden. a former adviser on parentcraft to the Ministry of . Health, addressing the Marriage Guidance Council in London. Equally alarming, he added, was the tender age of some of the mothers. He said that in 1954. five illegitimate children were born to mothers of 13, 33 to mothers of 14. 54 to mothers of 15. and 472 to mothers of 16. After that, the number was counted in thousands for each age group. ‘‘These teenage said Dr. Housden. “seem to look upon their illegitimate children as a bit of bad luck.”
