13,000 PASSENGERS LAST YEAR Last year, more than 13.000 passengers were carried on the ChristchurchSydney and Christchurch-Melbourne DC-6 services of Tasman Empire Airlines, Ltd. In the same period, more than 250,0001 b of cargo was handled through Christchurch by the airline and the amount of mail- carried on the services was in excess of 196,0001b.x The two return Sydney flights each week carried approximately twice the amount of the once weekly service between Christchurch and Melbourne. With mail, however, the bulk was carried on the Sydney flights, which accounted for more than 170.0001 b of the 196.0001 b/
