PAPANUI HIGH SCHOOL HALL
REQUEST FOR WIDER BUILDING GRANTED
The Papanui High School will have an assembly hall 70ft by 46ft, which is six feet wider than the standardised post-primary school type of hall. The principal (Mr L. B. Newton), who was a member of a delegation from the school board of governors which met officers of the Education Department in Wellington recently said at a meeting yesterday that a reest. h ad been made for a hall of b y 50ft to accommodate between 600 and 700 pupils. The board decided yesterday to make an application to the department for three additional rooms to be built on to the new school block' to replace three pre-fabricated rooms on the grounds An application will also be sent to the department for seats to be built along an outside wall of the new block and for showers for the gymnasium.
