DAIRY PRODUCE FOR ASIA

QUEENSLAND PLANS BID FOR SALES

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) BRISBANE, Oct. 27. An all-out effort is to be made by Queensland to sell dairy products to South-east Asia.

The chairman of the Queensland Butter Board (Mr A. G. Muller), announcing this in Brisbane, said that the manager of the Queensland Butter Board (Mr Coombes) had visited Japan to investigate the market for reconstituted milk, and the board had asked the Federal Government for assistance.

A As a result, the Minister of External Affairs (Mr R. G. Casey) had announced at the Colombo Plan conference last week that Australia would set up a milk reconstitution plant worth £lOO,OOO at Singapore. Mr Muller said that the Asian countries would not be obliged to buy dairy products from Australia because of the gift- of the factory, but the Queensland Butter Marketing Board would make a big effort to sell them butter oil, which, when mixed with water, made a first-class reconstitute.
