TOMATO AND STONE-FRUIT GROWERS lUHng relief under the Urban Farm Landsßating Act, as administered by th® Christchurch City Council at present, is considered to give token relief only by the Canterbury Tomato, Stonefruit _and Vegetable Growers’ Association. The association has sought legal opinion on the method of calculating relief. Submissions have been sent to the council, but when the ' ociation met last evening no reply had been received from the Town Clerk (Mr H. S. Feast). The secretary (Mr J. P. Goldsmith) told the meeting that he had tried unsuccessfully to get in touch with Mr Feast several times during the day, and early last evening. “I feel we shall have to state a case en the matter,” he said.
