CAR CLUB TRIAL TO WANAKA
12 ENTRANTS FROM CANTERBURY
Early tomorrow morning 12 sports and saloon cars driven by members of the Canterbury Car Club will leave the Addington Saleyards for Lake Wanaka. Thev will be entrants in the South Canterbury Car Club’s reliability trial and consours d’elegance. Drivers from all parts of the South Island are taking part in the trial, and the leaving times from various other centres have been arranged so that all the cars will arrive at Wanaka at approximately the same time. About 80 cars are entered in the trial. For the Christchurch entrants the route will be by way of Lyttelton, Governor’s Bay, Teddington, Geraldine, and Burke’s Pass. Secret check points will be situated at various sections of the route. The cars are expected to arrive at Wanaka about 5 p.m., and they will be impounded for the night. On Sunday morning braking and acceleration tests will be held, and the concours d’elegance.
