TRAFALGAR DAY SERVICE

OBSERVANCE ON SUNDAY

A commemorative service to mark the hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Battle ot Trafalgar, which falls today, will be held in the Christchurch C itLedral at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday. Although there will be no parade, the armed forces will be represented, the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps (which will b"’ holding a reunion) has been invited, and civic leaders will attend

The White Ensigxi and the Red Ensign will be received by the Dean of Christchurch <the Very Rev Martin Sullivan) and planed on the altar in the Cathedral, and the house flags of th major shipping companies will be mounted on the chancel screen. Dean Sullivan will give the address. The sendee is being arranged by th Canterbury branch of the Navy League. The deputy-chairman of the executive (Lieutenant-Commander F. Campbell) said it was hoped to hold the service annually in future.
