NINETEEN KILLED IN EXPLOSION
Store Wrecked By Blast (Rec. 12.30 a.m.) ANDOVER (Ohio), August 11. An explosion ripped through a building last night, killing at least 19 persons and injuring 20 more. Some are still missing. Fire swept the rums of the building after the explosion. Many of the dead and injured had gone into shops in the building to escape a severe rain and electrical storm. , J .,, Rescue teams early today were still searching the smoking ruins for more One volunteer said: “We’ll we prodding this debris for a couple of days. We haven’t even got into the rubble. Most of the bodies were taken from the top fringe of the debris.” The rescuers worked with army wreckage equipment and picks and shovels to clear away the debris. The deafening explosion wrecked the building at the height of a lashing storm during the dinner hour last j ni 'Most of the victims, including 18 injured, had taken shelter in a dairy stone and an adjoining restaurant when the blast happened. Several victims trapped in the dairy store, burned beyond recognition, were found seated at tables with food before them.
