COMPETITION FOR NEEDLEWOMEN

Needleworkers throughout New Zealand will be interested in the largest embroidery competition ever to be held in Australia and New Zealand. The competition, which will close on December 1, is divided into six sections catering for adults, adolescents and children, with a special section for male embroiderers. The cash prizes total £2OOO. All articles must be embroidered during 1955, which rules out articles that have already been exhibited. Although no points are to be awarded for the type of edge used, the articles must be finished with either a machine edge, lace, or hand-finished edge. Such embroidered articles as supper, luncheon or dinner cloths, traycloths, runners, table centres, duchesse sets, doilys, guest towels, tea towels, aprons, card table covers and cushions are catered for in the adult sections. * In addition to the major prizes there are many consolation prizes of £5 each.
