CRICKET SOUTH AFRICANS 396 FOR SIX
Good Batting In PreTest Match (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 10. In a pre-test match against Leicestershire, the South African cricketers scored 396 for six on the opening day. Leicestershire’s pace attack failed to check an opening stand of 101 by McGlew and Goddard, and then McGlew and Keith were assbeiated in a partnership of 224. McGlew was dropped at 12, and then went on to score 161—his highest score of the tour. Keith reached his first centurv of the tour. The wicket was fast and the spin bowlers made little impression on the attacking batsmen.
WATSON MAY NOT BE FIT FOR TEST
(NJZ. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 10. Willie Watson, the Yorkshire lefthander, may not be fit to play for England against South Africa in the fifth and final cricket test at the Oval on Saturday. Watson, wild also missed the fourth test because of an elbow injury, has
bruised the knuckles on his right hand and has withdrawn from Yorkshire’s match against. Nottingham today. He is i travelling to London to consult a speeial- ; Ist.
