NEW ISSUE OF STONE’S DIRECTORY

There will be a ready welcome for the new issue of Stone’s directory, just published, covering Canterbury, Marlborough. Nelson, and Westland. This is the fifty-third issue of the directory, a huge volume of more than 1900 pages, and of very great value to the public generally. The directory contains complete street references, an alphabetical section, a country section, rural deliveries and a trades and professions section. Throughout the alphabetical section, there are helpful references by which those seeking names by pronunciation are assisted in finding the people sought. The directory is well printed and stronglv bound. The übiquitous Smiths’ will no doubt be relieved to learn that they still outnumber the Browns and the Jones. There are about 1600 Smiths listed in the alphabetical section, in 23 columns, compared with 10 columns of Browns and slightly under 10 columns of Joneses.
