TABLE TENNIS
PLAY IN CANTERBURY TITLES The men’s doubles and mixed doubles of the Canterbury table tennis championships were played as far as the semifinals last evening. The final of the men’s plate was won by T. G. Shadwell, who beat D. V. Fisher, 12-21, 21-17, 21-19. Semi-final results were:— Men’s Doubles.—R. M. Radford and D. Hill beat P. B. Snillane and T. Humphries, 21-19, 21-15, 21-17: D. Fisher and B. Radford beat N. C. Orr and R. J. Orr, 24-26, 19-21, 21-18, 21-9, 21-17. Mixed Doubles.—V. N. Brightwell and Miss P. Quinn beat J. Armstrong and Miss J. Cox, 16-21, 21-17, 21-16. 16-21, 21-11; R. J. Orr and Miss J. Williamson beat P. B. Spillane and Mrs T. McGregor, 21-12, 21-16. 20-22, 21-8.
