TOURNEY CONCLUDED AT TIMARU (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, August 10. The South Canterbury Town team won the Rugby shield at the all-Canterburv primary schools’ sports tournament, which was concluded at Timaru today. The team, which has this season won games against North Otago and Bush representatives, today '’efeated Ashburton to maintain its unbeaten record. The Christchurch team was runner-up in the competition. In the junior Rugby, Christchurch was held to a scoreless draw by South Canterbury Country, and won the grade. South Canterbury Country were second. The basketball competitions were evenly contested, particularly in the junior section, where four games were drawn. The senior winners were South Canterbury Town with three wins, apd in the junior grade South Canterbury Country with two wins and a draw won from Ashburton with two wins. Today’s results were:— Rugby Senior.—South Canterbury Town 5 (Stack a try, Sinclair a conversion) beat Ashburton 0; Christchurch 8 (Greig and Murray one try each, Campbell a conversion) beat South Canterbury Country 3 (Warner a try). Junior South Canterbury Town 3 (Cowan a try) beat Ashburton 0; South Canterbury Country 0 drew with Christchurch 0.
