Ashley River Fishing.—A recommendation that fishing in the Ashley river be restricted to fly fishing only, from the source of the river to the main north line railway bridge, was adopted by the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society last evening. The council had previously recommended that the restriction apply as far as the Waikuku creek, but after protests from groups of anglers in the society’s area it was decided to amend the recommendation.
