COLLISION WITH TAXI
MISSING CAR BELIEVED INVOLVED A car which was reported stolen on July 27 is believed to have been involved in a collision with a taxi last Wednesday. It has not yet been found, and the police are still seeking information on the car or its unauthorised driver. At 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday, a car, a late model, cream English vehicle of the description of the missing car, collided with a taxi, driven by Mr W. J. Baker, at the intersection of Hereford street and Stanmore road. The car was slightly damaged. A strip of metal was torn off the left-hand front mudguard, and the left overrider on the front bumper came off. The driver of the car signed a statement that he had failed to give way to his right and thus caused the collision. Mr Baker took the statement to the police and it was found that the driver had given a false address and falsely named an insurance company. The registration number of the car is 329-292.
