Truman’s Memoirs
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) KANSAS CITY, August 7. Mr Harry Truman said today that prospects for international peace “have been improving.” The remark was in response to a reporter’s question at a press conference called to announce publication of the first volume of Mr Truman’s memoirs. An official of the publishing company said the volume—entitled “Year of Decisions”—would appear on November 20. The former President did not discuss details of the book, which deals with his career up to 1946, but said he was prepared for a swirl of controversy upon publication. “When the truth is told where it hasn’t been known before, it’s bound to prove right interesting,” Mr Truman said. Publication of the Truman memoirs is under contract which calls for serial presentation of parts of the book in “Life” magazine, the “New York Times,”, and the “St. Louis PostDispatch.”
