USE OF TEMPORARY DWELLINGS
STRONGER BY-LAWS SUGGESTED Difficulties experienced in the use of caravans and temporary buildings as dwellings during the erection of permanent houses were reported to the Paparua County Council by the housing committee. The position was brought to the notice of the council by the sanitary inspector, who suggested that consideration should be given to prohibiting the use of these types of temporary accommodation. The housing committee was of the opinion that in many cases the use of temporary accommodation proved of great benefit to house builders, but considered that the county by-laws should be strengthened to avoid certain difficulties mentioned by the inspector. The county clerk (Mr A. Kelly) and the county engineer (Mr G. A. MacFarlane) are to draw up proposals covering the position.
