CONTROL OF WEST NEW GUINEA

(Rec. 8 p.m.) NEW YORK, August S. The African-Asian group today approved a request to place again the question of West New Guinea on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly next month. The group, with the exception of Ethiopia and Libya, who were not present, approved at a meeting the text of a letter containing the request to the United Nations SecretaryGeneral. Mr Dag Hammarskjold. A spokesman for the group said that the request was similar to that adopted at the Bandung Conference in which the Netherlands and Indonesia were urged to negotiate. A resolution was passed by the Political Committee of the General Assembly last year, proposing that the two countries resume* negotiations. It failed to gain a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly.
