ATTACK BY KOREANS
Attempt To Raid Neutrals (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) SEOUL, August 9. South Korean war veterans attempted early this morning to storm Wolmi Island off Inchon and to overrun the billets housing neutral nations inspectors. The Bth Army said they failed. One group of about 300 were, according to the Bth Army, “obviously drunk.” The American guards used fire hoses and tear gas to beat off the offensive and fired warning shots over the heads of the assault parties.
