The planes repeatedly bombed and strafed fishing boats along the Fukien coast. Between June 1 and June 18 they sank on e and damaged eight fishing boats, and killed two and injured eight fishermen off the southern Fukien coast.” During the same period the Na-tionalist-held Matsu and Quemov Islands fired 379 shells on 18 occasions on the large Fukien port of Amoy and the Chmyu and Tateng Islands, as well as on fishing boats operating north of the Min river, injuring two residents and destroying 16 houses, the agency said.

It also claimed that Nationalist Navy Ships, on June 17. “kidnapped” 64 fishermen off the coast of Chaoan at the southern tip of. Fukein. On the same day. five fishermen were killed or injured as the result of Nationalist mines in the fishing areas off the Fukien coast.
