FIVE PERSONS INJURED

CARS COLLIDE (New Zealand. Press Association) MASTERTON. June 12. Five persons were admitted to the Masterton Hospital last evening as a result of a collision between two cars on the main highway near Clareville about 5.30 p.m. The injured are Robert Reri and Graeme Reri, both of To Whiti; Raymond Clayton, of 424 Queen street. ■ Masterton; and Nahu Haeata, of 15 River road, Masterton. All are suffering from gcalp and facial injuries. Their condition is satisfactory. William Lees Thompson, of 200 Chapel street, Masterton, the sole occupant of one of the cars, was discharged after receiving treatment at the hospital. CYCLIST’S DEATH COLLISION WITH Bu's A cyclist who came into collision with a Transport Board bus in Christchurch on Saturday night was dead on arrival at the Christchurch Public Hospital. He was: Charles Wright, aged 47, single, a labourer, of 5 Bass street, Woolston. The collision occured at the corner of Fitzgerald avenue and Ferry road about 10.50 p.m. The bus was driven by Mr Dirk Van Nieuwkoop. of 25 Cambridge terrace, Christchurch. MOTORCYCLIST KILLED PILLION RIDER SUFFERS MINOR INJURIES (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 12.A motor-cyclist was killed at 1.15 p.m. today, when he fell off his machine on the Tarangamotu-Waitohi Valley road. He was: Tukaioro Konui, aged 21, of Erua. A pillion rider. Dick Bennett, aged nine, of Tarangamotu, was admitted to the Taumarunui Hospital with minor injuries. MAN SHOT DEAD ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF GUN (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS. June 12. A man suffered a fatal gunshot wound when he was climbing a fence at Havelock North at 9 a.m. today. He was: James Martin Meyer, aged 57, a gardener. employed by Mr P. Foxley, of Havelock North. Mr Meyer-a one-armed veteran of the First World War, was shooting hawks which had been attacking domestic poultry on Mr Foxley’s Te Mata property. He was shot in the chest, and died instantly.
