MOTH AIRCRAFT CRASHES
ONE OCCUPANT INJURED (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 12. A Tiger Moth aircraft of the New Plymouth Aero Club was extensively damaged when it crashed on the New Plymouth airport about 5.20 p.m. today. Neither of the two occupants wai seriously injured. 1 The plane was piloted by the club's [chief instructor. Mr G. L. Parker. He suffered cuts about the face and injuries to his right leg. He was taken to the New Plymouth Hospital. Hil condition is satisfactory. With Mr Parker was a pupil pilot, Mr I. Komene, who had been receiving dual instruction. He was not injured. Mr Parker, who was in the front cockpit, was landing after the last flight of the day. Visibility was poor. Mr Parker made a turn to put the aircraft down near the main hangar. Thi machine went into a shallow side-slip, the lower wing touched the ground, and the plane nosedived. BODY OF DROWNED BOY FOUND (New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, June 12. The body of James Cobham, aged 10, of Petone, who was drowned in Lake Onoke on May 29, when a boat capsized, was found this morning, one mile north of the Lake Ferry Hotel. The search for the body of the boy’i father, who also disappeared when the boat capsized, is to be intensified. MOTORIST GRAVELY INJURED (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. June 12. When the old-model truck he wai driving left the road an 4 struck a power pole at Kairanga yesterday, Athol Bremner, of Palmerston North, very seriously injured. He wai admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital. His condition to-night was reported to be serious. CYCLIST AND CAR COLLIDE (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, June 12. A cyclist, David Martin Mitchell, aged 65, of Onslow street. Gore, suffered a fracture of the skull and multiple lacerations when he collided witn a taxi driven by Mr H. J- Hodge in Gore about 11.25 a.m. on Saturday. Mr Mitchell’s condition was reported to be serious tonight. PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY CAR A pedestrian who was struck by • car at the intersection of Peterborougn and Colombo streets on Saturday evening was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital with leg injuries. The injured person is Miss Mary Anderson, of 129 Peterborough street. Her condition was reported last evening to be satisfactory. CYCLIST DIES FROM INJURIES A cyclist who suffered injuries m a collision with a car in Yaldhurst road last Tuesday, died in the Christchurch Public Hospital at 9.30 p.m. on Friday. He was: Andrew Smaill, aged 77, married, of 67 Avonhead road.
