MIGRANTS TO N.Z. FROM MALTA

The fourteenth biennial conference of the British Empire Service League today carried a resolution by Malta which asked the New Zealand Government to consider waiving the immigration restrictions on Maltese former servicemen to New Zealand. Mr John White, of Wellington, was applauded when he said that since arriving in London he had learned that arrangements had been made for 100 single Maltese men to enter New Zealand in the near future. “New Zealand is a small country and has very grave housing shortages. It therefore has to be careful in its immigration policies,” he said.
