OFFICIAL FLYING OF FLAGS

TWO NEW DATES ADDED Flags on Government buildings have been flown twice this month to mark dates which previously have not been accepted flag-flying occasions. On June 2, flags were flown to mark the anniversary of the -Coronation of the Queen, and on Friday they were flown to mark the birthday of the Duke of Edinburgh. Easter Monday (variable), Boxing Day. New Year’s Day, Australia Day (January 26). and Trafalgar Day (October 21) have now been deleted from the official list of flag-flying dates. The official dates on which Post Office flags are flown are: Accession Day (February 6), St. Patrick’s Day (March 17), Queen’s Birthday—actual date (April 21), St. George’s Day (April 23), Anzac Day (April 25), Empire Day (May 24), Queen’s Birthday—official observance (first Monday in June), the Queen Mother’s birthday (August 4), Dominion Day (fourth Monday in September), Labour Day (the fourth Monday in October), the Duke of Cornwall’s birthday (November 14), St. Andrew’s Day (November 30). anniversary of Canterbury (December 16). Flags are also flown on Remembrance Day. This day falls on the Sunday before November 11. The flags are flown at full mast except between 11 a.m. and 11.2 a.m. Flags are also flown during an official visit of the Governor-General.
