WOMEN’S AIR RACE

Storm Scatters Contestants (Rec. 11 p.m.) MIAMI, June 11. A storm yesterday left the 33 contestants in the women’s Washington to Havana air race scattered along 800 miles of the Atlantic seaboard from Florence, South Carolina, to Key West, Florida. A flying greatgrandmother, Mrs Zaddie Bunker, was guided to safety by a fellow pilot after her fuel supply ran low and her radio failed.

Another contestant, Mrs Ada Mitchell, landed her light plane safely on a road near Johnsonville, South Carolina.
