MISS VICTORIA AMOHAU BENNETT (left), who has been created an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and MRS CATHERINE WISHART DOCTOR, a new Member of the same order. A chieftainess of Te Atiawa tribe, Mrs Bernett has long been prominent in Maori welfare work. Mrs Doctor was for eight years president of the New Zealand Free Kindergarten Union and for more than 20 years president of the Wellington Free Kindergarten Association. A number of years ago she lived in Hokitika.
