CROQUET
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION The record number of entries in the Canterbury Croquet Association’s tournament last March indicated that the best time of the year to hold the evont was after the school holidays, said ? report presented at the annual meeting of the association recently. It was decided that in interclub shield matches all available lawns must be used to start the games. The matches must not start later than 10 a.m., and must finish by 5.30 p.m. Officers elected were:—President, Mrs G. Smithson; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. Turner, W. H. Kirk, and H. Nettleton; secretary-treasurer, Mrs S. F. Marshall; assistant-secretary, Mrs T. B. Grant; publicity officer, Mr H. Nettleton; handicapper, Mrs R. F. Kellaway; assistanthandicapper. Mrs S. H. Clothier; referee, Mr W. H. Kirk; tournament committee, Mesdames W. Turner, A. E. Caddick, T. B. Grant, E. Todd, S. H. Clothier, F. Gurnsey, W. H. Kirk, and Messrs H.‘ Nettleton and R. Overend; tournament manager, Mr H. Nettleton; assistantmanager, Mrs Caddick.
